The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow is appealing to the public to get on their bikes this October to support the hospice.
Every year the hospice provides compassionate care to 1200 new patients and their families, free of charge. This care, however, comes at a cost with the hospice needing to fundraise £7miilion each year to keep on caring.
Record-breaking cyclist Mark Beaumont has joined the hospice call to support local people with life-limiting conditions.
The hospice is asking people to take on the hospice Cycle Challenge. People can pick their own route, choose to cycle themselves or in a group or even host their own cycling event. But importantly, at the same time asking for sponsorship to help raise vitals funds for the hospice.
British long-distance cyclist, broadcaster and author, Mark, said: “This is such a worthwhile cause. Not only are you getting fit and healthy while cycling but you are also helping the hospice support and care for people who really need your help.”
The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice Board member, Hazel Tomkins, is leading the way by organising a group of her own as they embark on a cycling challenge around Glasgow, visiting 10 of the 18 hospice shops along the way.
Hazel said: “I know first-hand just how important the care the hospice provides is. It makes such a difference for people to have compassion and kindness at such a challenging time of their lives. The hospice doesn’t just support the patient; they are there for the whole family.
“Please join with us as we take on the hospice Cycle Challenge.”
