Like everyone, we are feeling the strain of rising costs for things like food, heat and electricity. It’s costing us more to provide home-cooked nutritious meals, essential medical supplies and warm bedrooms for our patients. Things we simply can’t cut down on.

We need £5.5m to operate the hospice in 2024. There is a rise of 7% in total costs this year alone.

We have not received additional funding from local health budgets to cover these rising costs.

That’s why we’re reaching out to our supporters to ask if people can support the hospice by donating.

In addition to our usual fundraising events, we’re really pulling out all the stops to tackle the funding gap. We’re teaming up with Hospice UK to push for fairer funding from the government. We’ve been in the media and on TV, sharing our stories and those of our patients. Plus, we’ve been chatting with our local MPs, asking them to stand up for us in the parliamentary debate about hospice funding. It’s all about making sure we can keep giving the care that matters most to so many people. 

We are so grateful to anyone who chooses to donate to our Care Appeal. Please be assured that whatever amount you can afford to give will make a big difference to people at the hardest time of their lives.

You can donate:

• Online on this webpage. 
• Via post. If you have received a letter, you can place a cheque made out to ‘PPWH’, cash or your card details along with the return form into the return envelope provided and post it back to us free of charge. If you wish to donate via post and you haven’t received the letter and form, we ask that you please enclose the following details along with your donation: Vital Care Appeal, full name, home address, phone number and email address (if you have one).
• By phoning 0141 429 5599. A member of the fundraising team will process your card payment over the phone.
• At the hospice.

The funds we raise from the Care Appeal will help to ensure that we can continue to deliver our services to patients and families when they need us.

• Write to your local MP – Let them know why The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is a crucial part of the community and why end of life care should be sustainably funded.
• Spread the word – Speak to friends, family and people you meet about financial situation UK hospices are facing. They may be in a position to donate or do some fundraising to help us. If you follow us on social media, you can share our posts about the Vital Care Appeal to let everyone know the current pressures we’re under.
• Share your story – We know that many people who support the hospice do so because they have a close friend or family member who has received our care, or perhaps you are a patient yourself. If you would be happy to talk about your story to help us raise awareness of the importance of our services, call our Communications Team on 0141 429 5599. 
• Fundraise – There are lots of ways you may wish to fundraise to help raise money for the hospice from hosting a ‘Care for a Cuppa’ coffee morning to running a 10k! • Join an Event – You may wish to show your support by joining one of our events and asking for sponsorship from friends and family. Find out whats coming up. 
• Leave a gift in your will – Please consider leaving the lasting gift of hospice care. Gifts left in wills make up a huge amount of the funds we need to raise each year. In fact, gifts in wills help us to care for 1 in 10 of our patients.
