The Hospice Commonwealth Games Challenge 2026
A venue of your choice
Let the Games Begin!
As the Commonwealth Games come to Glasgow, we are inviting schools, community groups and businesses to take part in a fundraising challenge that is simple to run and makes a real difference.
Take part in a way that works for you. Choose an activity, pick a date and get started. We will support you with ideas, guidance and encouragement, while you stay in control.
Every activity, big or small, helps support patients and families cared for by The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.
What could you do?
Hold a sports day
Organise a school or community sports day inspired by the Commonwealth Games. This could include short races, relays, team games or fun activities designed to suit all ages and abilities.
Set a sporting challenge
Create an individual or team challenge such as a walking or running target, a swim distance, a cycle challenge or a week of daily activity.
Create an obstacle course
Design a simple obstacle course in a playground, park, gym or workplace space. Keep it fun, safe and inclusive, and invite people to take part for a small donation.
Mini tournaments
Run a short tournament using accessible sports such as football, netball, badminton, table tennis or rounders. Teams can pay a small entry fee, with prizes for participation rather than winning.
Relay challenges
Set up a relay where teams collectively complete a distance or number of laps over a day or week. This works well in schools and offices and allows everyone to contribute at their own pace.
Sponsored movement break
Commit to a daily movement challenge for a week, such as a lunchtime walk, stair climb or stretch session, and raise sponsorship.
Dance or fitness sessions
Host a sponsored dance-a-thon, aerobics class, yoga session or fitness circuit inspired by sporting events. These can run in schools, community halls or workplaces.
Steps or activity challenge
Run a steps challenge using phones or fitness trackers. Set a collective target and encourage friendly competition between teams or departments.
Creative challenge
Create sports-themed artwork, posters or classroom displays inspired by the Commonwealth Games. Display them publicly and invite donations.
Host a Commonwealth quiz
Run a Commonwealth themed quiz in a classroom, staff room, hall or community venue. Charge an entry fee or ask teams to fundraise and enjoy some friendly competition.
Why take part?
Every challenge completed and every quiz answered raises vital funds for hospice care. Your support helps us continue providing compassionate care and support to patients and families when they need it most.
You also give your group a shared goal, a sense of achievement and a meaningful way to connect with the Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow.
If you would like, I can also add a simple How to get started section or tailor this specifically for schools, workplaces or community groups.
