Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice

Light Up A Life and remember your loved ones

Here at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, we know that Christmas can be a time for togetherness which can be a difficult time if you have lost a loved one, or if you cannot be with someone you love. Our Light up a Life appeal gives you the opportunity to celebrate the life of a loved one by dedicating a light or lights on our Christmas tree, in their memory.

Every light that shines out from our Christmas tree is a heartfelt tribute to those who are missed but definitely not forgotten. Seeing it adorned with lights and knowing that each light is dedicated to someone has such a special meaning.

If you would like to pay tribute to a loved one, you can do this by:

  • Dedicating a light that will shine brightly on our Christmas tree in the grounds of the hospice
  • Writing a message of remembrance for your loved one on one of our Light Up A Life stars

How to make your dedication

This year we have 2 online options: you can either make a dedication through our normal online donation form, or you can make your dedication  on our special new online Christmas Tree. If you add your dedication to the online tree, you will see it shine brightly on the virtual tree and you also have the option of adding a photograph to your dedication and you can share your dedication on social media.

Our Light up a Life events are a chance to come together and remember friends and family who are no longer with us.

Christmas lights switch on – Sunday 28 November (4:30pm)
Our Christmas Tree lights switch on will be held outside the hospice, 20 Dumbreck Road, Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. This is a very special event as each light represents a loved one who is no longer with us. This event does not require pre-booking and anyone is welcome to attend.

Many families need our support. A gift from you today could pay for vital nursing time and resources and we give heartfelt thanks for any kind contribution you feel able to give at this time.

  • £20 could pay for materials for use in the Hospice's Art Project for a day.
  • £35 can pay for a patient’s meals for a week in our In Patient Unit, made by our catering team.
  • £75 could pay for a counselling session for a patient, carer, family member or child.
  • £100 would help towards the cost of a home visit by our Specialist Community Nursing Team, helping a patient to be well enough to stay home with their family.

If you would like a star decoration, please contact Michelle Pagett on 0141 429 9835 or
